hyperion training opportunities

Now that we have moved to Hyperion 8.x, Information Systems and Client-Services have re-designed our training plans to more evenly balance the needs of our clients with the multiple options available within Hyperion.  Our expanded use of the MyReports Repository from the MySlice Portal allows clients to quickly, with minimal training, begin using the queries and reports available across subject areas in the warehouse.  Some clients may need to learn more about writing Hyperion reports and there will a group that will require both report training and query training at the power user level.  We believe that this training plan, which incorporates approvals, pre-requisites and restrictions for each level of training, will service our clients needs and will allow CMS to provide the right training at the right time.

  1. portal overview is the prerequisite for all Hyperion training. It is a general overview of the PeopleSoft portal (MySlice) as it is implemented at Syracuse University. Portal technology allows us to access information and computer applications based on our role at the University.

  2. hyperion repository training. This is an overview of using the new Web-based Hyperion Repository. This course is a requirement for access to the data warehouse to run any of the various repositories or other queries written for you by others. Once an individual has completed a class, IS will activate his/her access to whatever areas have been approved by the appropriate data custodian.

  3. hyperion web8 publishing. This class, in the past, has been advertised as Hyperion Advanced Repository Training.  This 90 minute session will provide hands-on training for publishing Brio 6.5 and 6.6 queries to the web for university staff who currently write their own queries using Hyperion. On December 1st (2004), clients will no longer be able to create and run queries from their desktop using SSO/Brio 6.5, 6.6; all query and repository access will use the University's portal and the MyReports link

data training component

CMS Training is designed to handle Hyperion training only.   It is the responsibility of the data custodian and/or functional business anaylsts to teach clients about the data in the warehouse. ALL users at the power user level will be required to participate in these data training sessions before access is granted.

hyperion training documents

There are a number of excellent Hyperion training documents maintained by CMS Training.

open me first

Open Me First, is an option that will allow clients like you who have access to repository queries (non-dashboard) to save a query locally, add additional reports/pivots/local limits and then run the query from MyReports, while still maintaining security limits.   To sign up for a class send an message to the following email address with the class you want to attend:
